"It's All About Anoka!"
Joelle is a wife, mother and grandmother. She grew up in the city of Anoka and dearly loves this community, She has the time needed to work for you as your mayor. Phil Rice, is not seeking re-election and he has thrown his support: seeing that she has a new eye for economic growth and budgets for our future.- As an Anoka honor graduate with a Master's Degree in Business Management, she has the local knowledge and love for her community combined with the business acumen. She has been an entrepreneur in the retail and real estate businesses as well as having excelled in sales in the corporate world for over 30 years. She understands the many changes of business ownership and will advocate for the businesses to excel as they most often do with less government intrusion.
- People are drawn to Anoka because of the our community climate of a vibrant downtown, businesses that pay good wages, beautiful park systems with something for everyone, esthetics of the rich history of Anoka and the great amenities of the riverways, There are numerous challenges in Anoka that threaten to keep Anoka growing and thriving as we currently see.
- Safety is paramount and what attracts people to Anoka . Without a safe community we see sign of deterioration of our economic security from graffiti to lack of continuity of businesses thriving. The jail expansion is a current threat to our beautiful downtown Anoka. The possibility of having federal level post incarcerated prisoners finding their way to a new life when being let out on our streets is a high-level priority for which she is currently working on having attended many meetings and discussions to help our city mitigate this threat.
- We need a comprehensive plan for keeping our city vibrant. And, she's been seeking input on improving our streetscape and sanitation policies that would ensure a clean environment to attract and retain business patrons., From the social district to parking enforcement, all need to be reviewed and modified to assist in continued economic growth.
- High taxes impair the already strained family budgets. A thorough overhaul of the city budget needs to seek ways to conserve costs. There have been eye opening mentions of over-runs on the city expenditures that could be reined in.
- Currently anokans are requesting a fresh foods grocer or market in town! As barriers surface to achieve this request, she is working closely with possible businesses to find a path within Anoka. Other requests for a local pharmacy, plus size clothing store and modifying parking restrictions to accommodate these requests. The peoples voices should be heard and acted upon. She loves to see solutions and solve problems such as enacting level-headed decisions on getting us a grocery store in Anoka.
- Anoka was created by the merging of the Rum and Mississippi rivers . The Rum is the heartbeat of our current and historical development. She has been networking with stakeholders that are interested in providing more growth opportunity to downtown connected to the riverway.
- The outskirts of Anoka include a great opportunity for athleticism with the high school hockey and baseball park to the north. The Greenhaven golf course has potential for more growth to the west. We honor our Veterans with Haven for Heroes and Veteran's Memorial Park and bandshell. Anoka has a train station with plans for additional public transit. Anoka Community Mission provides an outreach for food, dry goods, sundries, clothing, toys, toiletries, and soon other needed services. Our business districts have auto dealers, repair shops, strip malls, florists, restaurants, antique shops, and even theater and art venues. We create diverse areas all over the city!
- She believes opportunity exists everywhere for economic growth. Joelle brings an even-tempered level-headedness and active listening skills to the role as Mayor.
