Why are you the best candidate for this position?

                                                 It's All About Anoka!

Anoka needs new leadership that is transparent in how our public processes work. Anoka is supposed to be a government of, for, and by the people. Just recently, my opponent made a hostile accusation on camera at a city meeting accusing a city council member of inviting the Anoka County Attorney to that public meeting. My opponent referred to it as a non-publicized meeting when in fact it was deemed a public meeting where anyone is invited. I am the best candidate for this position because I am level headed & think we all make better decisions in the process of discussing various differing opinions. I have been humbled and honored to have been asked by a number of Anoka’s community and business leaders to step up and lead Anoka as mayor!
If elected, what will your top three priorities be and why?
Safety is paramount and what attracts people to Anoka. Without a safe community we see signs of deterioration of our economic security which prevents businesses from thriving. Initiate Grocer or Marketplace on Main street by removing the city ordinance that prevents this occurrence. Your tax dollars will be used wisely. Cost over runs must stop.

If elected, what strategies will you use to ensure transparency, accountability and ethical conduct in city government under your leadership?
People lack trust in Anoka government due to lack of transparency. I will continue to build bridges of trust and inclusion in a respectful process. Anoka can utilize software that interacts people with meet up events for each item of public interest. In 2025, I will re-evaluate our Code of Conduct with the new administration. I am retired and have time to devote to Anoka.

How will you engage with residents to solicit feedback, involve them in decision-making processes, and ensure their voices are heard?
“Meet The Mayor Weekly” will be a public connect forum. Anoka people want more input on: Waste Management services, Jail expansion, roadway, riverway and railway transit changes and tax increases. We will keep these postings of meetings that engage discussion notably at city hall and online forums. I spend time building bridges and solving problems in the community. I serve on the: Economic Development Committee, and champion finding a grocer, parking concerns, neighborhood appearance and more.

How will you approach public safety and community policing to ensure the well-being of all residents?
Safety is paramount and what attracts people to Anoka. Without a safe community we see signs of deterioration of our economic security which prevents businesses and all from thriving. Our August Night to Unite helps connect people to our public safety officers. Anoka has been the first to have a School Resources Officer. Safety is best in education of prevention. We must diligently address citizen awareness to prevent threats and scams.
